About Marlene's Art

The Vision

My studio is my laboratory where I experiment to create original images. I'd like for this site to capture your attention and inspire thoughts and conversations about Art.

AVIAN, 36" X 30", Acrylic paint on canvas

Marlene DiFiori Locke experiments with different ways to make Art that show movement, depth, and chance. This is a painting from her ZOOMER SERIES titled Zoomer Q, 12" x 12" x 1.5".  It is created using Acrylic paint, ink, graphite and colored pencil on a board. She continues most of her paintings around the sides, so frames are not necessary. Images shown on this website are a sample of the hundreds created through the years.

Marlene and her husband, Kenneth William Locke, met when they were students at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. In the last two years, she has edited and published three books showing their history of image making and, in the case of Ken's photos, image capturing. Marlene is currently editing a comprehensive fourth book of her Art created in the last 55 years.

Dr. Locke's work consists of photos of nature and of the world. He does not edit his work on the computer but waits and searches for the "perfect" composition and then takes his photos. Ken believes it is a beautiful world we live in, if you look at it in the right way. That is what he tries to do with his camera: capture the beauty, nature-made or man-made, through an unfiltered camera lens and unretouched photographs! His photos may be printed in various sizes.

Marlene and Ken's grandsons Riley and Tyler Gammaitoni, now 11 and 14, each have one of their original creations on this website.
